SÍNDROME DE BURNOUT EM PROFISSIONAIS DA ÁREA DE SAÚDE: UMA REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA

Stress is one of the main factors affecting the health and quality of life of workers, being considered a global health problem. In this context, among the most affected workers are healthcare professionals, who may develop Burnout Syndrome. Objectives: The following study aims to verify, through literature review, Burnout Syndrome in healthcare professionals, risk factors, and prevention and treatment strategies. Methodology: To do so, a bibliographic research was conducted using journals published between 2007 and 2021, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages, addressing the themes of Burnout and stress. Thus, a search was carried out in the virtual libraries Scielo and Google Scholar, based on the use of the keywords "burnout syndrome," "healthcare professionals," "risk factors," and "treatment." Final considerations: Consequently, the prevalence of the syndrome was observed in specific areas such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, physiotherapy, and psychology. The most associated symptom in these professionals was emotional exhaustion. It is concluded that there is a need for investments in organizational strategies aimed at promoting the health of healthcare professionals, in order to improve the work environment. Furthermore, it is essential to further explore treatment and prevention strategies for Burnout Syndrome, seeking to improve the quality of life of healthcare professionals.
